The other night I hosted a bridal shower for my work. Unfortunately, I am sick with a cold so I am a little droopy looking here plus after wearing it all day I am a little stretched out....oops but I did remember to at least get a picture. I don't think there is a more comfortable pencil skirt out there then the J Crew corduroy, I have several of them!

Now for some better shots of my much beloved Seychelles Witness Sandals. I love, love LOVE these sandals. They have a great vintage vibe and they look like s peep toe pump from the front.......

.............and a bootie from the side, back! Like all Seychelles, they are very comfortable for a pump. I am leaning forward so the gap in the back looks larger but there is always a gap there because of the height of the back. There is no rubbing at all so I am blister free. Oh, and excuse my chipped toenail polish.

Here is a quick picture of the favors we gave out. It was a cooking themed shower so I made cupcakes in a jar with the soon-to be-brides favorite kind of cake, funfetti.

Fall J Crew Fitting Room Reviews

Today was the older boys first day back at school so to take my mind off missing them I ran to J Crew for a few returns and try ons.

Maisie Dress in Abstract Floral. Size 6 $178. I usually prefer an 8 in J Crew dresses but if they aren't fitted on the hips, 6 will work. I LOVED this dress on I just wanted an inch or two more length. If there had been an eight in the store that was a little longer, it would have gone home with me today.

Maisie Dress in getaway green, Size 8 $168. I tried on an 8 in this one to see what it did for the length and imagine my suprise when it was shorter then the floral 6....strange. My PS said it should be the same in length as the floral but somehow I lost a few inches. Also, I am not sure if it just is because it was a slid versus a print but the arms were more sheer.

Blythe Shirtdress in poppy.Size 8, $178. I have a long waist so when I first tried this on with the fabric belt it came with it looked off to me. However with the belt switched out I liked it soooo much better! This dress is so comfortable and classic and the length was just to my knee (I am a little over 5'9"). The lower half is lined so no slip needed and it should go great in the fall with tights. I wish the poppy was a little more saturated and I have a red silk dress so this was going to be a no for me until my PS grabbed me the dark navy which I fell in love with. So gorgeous with browns and/or tortoise accents.

No. 2 Pencil skirt in vintage tweed. Size 8, $148. I am loving the longer length on this falls pencil skirts. This is my favorite tweed J Crew pencil skirt so far. I love the colors and the little pocket. It is very stretchy and doesn't flare out at the bottom like a lot of tweed does. I have this on hold because I have a hard time getting past the tummy pouch that tweed always seems to like to show off.

No. 2 Pencil Skirt in plaid. Size 8, $138. I was suprised how much I liked this skirt on since I am not usually drawn to dark or dull colors but I really ended up loving this one. I did notice however that on the hanger every skirt looked like it had been crumple on the floor for a week. On, the wrinkles went away so I am guessing it is the fabric.

And lastly, the Merino Pleated Skirt. Size Medium $128. I liked this one on better then I thought but it is not a love. The color, length and cut are great but I don't like the way sweater skirts hit my hip/thighs. It may grow on me though in time

J Crew Jardin Skirt

As you can tell from the luggage on my bed, I am on my way out of town to do nothing but lay at a pool, not cook, do a little shopping and oh, did I mention not cook? I am headed to the world famous garlic capital of the world, Gilroy. Why you ask? Well simply, that's the small town my parents live in. Nothing glamorous just good ole' relaxing with the kiddos.

I did not want to leave without a quick picture of the Jardin skirt. I ordered this skirt back in June when it was first released on the website and was back ordered. It finally arrived on Tuesday. I must admit, I thought the odds were low that I would end up liking this skirt, even lower that I'd love it. Truth is, in a lot of their pics it looks too poofy and hard to wear. Nut in person, I LOVE this skirt. It is so light and it falls nicely...not too poofy at all. Oh....and it has pockets, need I say more? I did have to wear a slip, the skirt it is lined but it is lined with the same light cotton fabric which still equalled too sheer for me.

J Crew New Arrivals Fitting Room Pics

Today I rushed to see the new Fall Arrivals at J Crew. Unfortunately, my store didn't get in a lot of the items I was hoping to find but there were some fun surprises.

Perfect Shirt in Leopard $78, Size 6. Okay, excuse the belt in this picture I was playing around with it and forgot to get a picture without it. I am not a lepard print person but J Crew always seems to find a way to so it well. This print is no exception.

Wool Cafe Capris in camel $118 I was hoping these would fit like the lollis and they do...whoo hoo. My stylist accidentally grabbed me a 6 instead of an 8 in these and I almost cried thinking I had to go a pant size up but luckily it was just a mix up....funny how we get so caught up on numbers isn't it? Anyways, these pics will show them a little tight because of that. These are the camel and I love them and want all the colors (well almost). They are unlined and light which is not typically what you think of with wool pants. I think they run TTS if not a little big.

Tippi Sweater $69.50 Size Medium. I don't know what to say except this sweater is a perfect wardrobe staple since it works with pants, skirts and jeans. The stylist grabbed me black (which I rarely wear) but the vibrant flame, viridian green and the heathered camel were my favorites. I found this to be TTS. You could size down but I like the slightly slouchy fit.

No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Leopard, $118 Size 8. I would not have tried this skirt on if the amazing Cyndi at Fashion Valley hadn't pushed me. I love the fit of this skirt, the length is longer than recent J Crew pencil skirts and the fabric is so soft. The leopard print on the skirt is slightly lighter than the perfect shirt and the tippi sweater version.

Perfect Shirt in Medium Gingham $72 Size 6, artillery fatigue. This fabric is stretchier then my other perfect shirts so it has a little more give across the back which I like.

Stripe Boatneck Painter Tee $39.50. Love the fit and length of this tee. It is thinner and very soft , feels more like a fitted tissue tee. I am 5'9" with a long torso so if you are shorter it may not work as well.

Suede Hook Belt-On sale for $39.50 plus the current 40% off sale promo online (LOVEIT). This is a size Small. The medium was really big (see first picture). Fun little belt but it slips around a lot and you can't really adjust it.

Minnie pant in Stretch Twill $79.50, Size 8 Vibrant Flame. Love this color and the look of these pants. What I couldn't get comfortable with was my plump booty on full display. Even when I was a size 2, I still had bootie to spare. Maybe the matchstick cords will work a little better.

Featherknit Floral tank $39.50, Size M. I had this in a small as well but I like the relaxed fit of the Medium. I really like the flowy feel of this tank and I am planning to grab it in some solids as well. Great layering piece, tucked in or out.

Jackie Cardigan $62, Size M Laquer Yellow (?). I had just asked my stylist to grab any cardigan real quick and this is what I ended up with. I am assuming this must be the laquer yellow, it was much brighter then I thought it looked on the website.

Chambray Shirtdress $118-If this had been 6 inches longer I would have been happy but hello...short enough? It looks longer on the model. Also, the price is a little high but seeing it could be a "go to" dress for years you may want to splurge. For me it was a may be a sale pick...with leggings!

Wedding Bells and Crystal rays

Yesterday was the wedding and I am now free from the kitchen...yee haw! Here is what I wore to the event, it was outside in the evening so it cooled down just enough that the cropped sweater never got too hot. I scored this dress for just over $35 during a recent promo at Banana Republic where they were offering 40% off sale items plus at 25% off coupon. I also had some rewards so it ended up being a great deal. It's hard to capture in a picture how cute the smocking on this dress is so you'll have to trust me that it makes it extra special. Oh, and it ended up that the Bridal party all had cropped purple cardigans on so I blended right in.

Stuck in the Kitchen

Aren't summers supposed to be laid back? Well, I am still waiting. My eldest, Jonas, is leaving at 5am (ugghh) tomorrow to go rapelling in Utah. I will be a nervous wreck until he is home with all bones and limbs in tact. I also have another friends wedding next weekend that I am preparing some of the desserts and a few small decorations for. So after church today I was flash freezing cookies, squeezing lemons for lemon bars (my favorite) and making (and freezing) homemade cinnamon rolls for a church event the same day as the wedding. So after all that I was too tired to make dinner.....oh well. Sorry fam.

This is what I wore this morning. I noticed 15 minutes in to church that I had my scarf inside out but you get the picture.

I have been enjoying all the summer sales going on, what about you? I got some great deals at Boden USA, Banana Republic, Talbots and LOFT. Somehow I avoided any J Crew purchases. I think I am just ready for their amazing fall line to come out and take all my extra money.

Happy Monday (if there is such a thing)! I hope you are enjoying your summer so far....I know we are but it never seems to be as calm and relaxing as you think. Did you see J Crew started an extra 30 promo on sale today? I am trying to be good. I ordered a sale dress from Boden this morning and that has to be it. I admit, the fact the we are receiving 16 hours of new shipment at work that I can't wait to check out tonight is helping.

Outdoor Friday Wedding Reception

Thanks for all your patience, sweet emails and support while I have been on a blogging break to spend time with my family. Sometimes, you have to let go of things for a while and just get back to basics.

Okay, well this has been a very long, unplanned absense (more like disappearance) on my part. I am going to work on getting back to all your comments this week as well. First off, we had major sickies that ended up with my oldest and youngest having pnuemonia. It was the cold/flu that wouldn't go away, three weeks of being a nurse...no thank-you. Also, as I had briefly mentioned, my husband isn't working right now, and not by choice. So, I switched to working days and took a lead position at the LOFT so I have been working over twice as much as I am used to. I don't know how I used to work full time and take care of the house. Working mom's my hat is off to you....bravo! Between work, school carpooling, baseball, wrestling and that whole making dinner for a family of six thing, I have hardly touched my computer. Oh, and then we all came down with the stomach flu this week within hours of each other. I will spare you the details but I assure you, it will go in my top five of the toughest things I have been through.

Now, I don't want to sound like a complainer I could have found a way to blog but my family needed me and they win. It was nice to be home more in the evenings and I truly love my job. Plus, I took the opportunity to work on my baking skills and we have thoroughly enjoyed eating a multitude of pies, lemon bars and homemade donuts. Things are hopefully going to get back to normal soon since my husband is about to go back to work (phew) and homemade banana pudding topped with meringue is about to go in the oven.

J Crew New Arrivals-dressing room reviews

Well it is February and I am back and 8 pounds heavier (oops). So lets start this off with my trip to J Crew yesterday.

Forever Cotton Cardigan in smoldering brick ($69.50 item 35751). This is a size Medium and was very comfy and lightweight. Because of the fabric, I would recommend sizing down (which I do later). I liked this cardigan a lot and I liked the way it fell much better then the infinity from the fall/winter.

Vintage Cotton Sunburst Tank in grey ($58.00 item 34085 ). this is a size small, I sized down like I do in most J Crew cotton tanks. This tank lived up to everything I had hoped it would be. The belt makes it hard to see but this tank fits beautifully, I love the detailing and it looks good tucked and untucked. This was a must have for me.

Aurora Tweed Pencil Skirt ($118.00 item 38137). This is my normal size in J Crew skirts, 8 and it fits TTS. I loved this skirt online and in the catalog but I wanted to see it in person. Don't let the word tweed fool you...it is lightweight and shimmery. So gorgeous IRL. The coloring is a red/orange with cream threading. It photographs more orangey but to me it is similar to the nutmeg color in person.

Braided Wrap belt ($52.00 item 39359) Size Small/Medium. This belt is really pretty in person but I could not make it work for the life of me. It did weird bunching things belted over a cardigan and slipped off the waisband when worn under. A no thank-you for me.

Camp Pocket cardigan in smoldering brick ($88.00 item 35750). This is a size medium, my true size and I think it runs a little smaller. I loved this cardigan in the catalog and ended up getting this one over the forever because it was different then my other cardigans. Only dislike was that the bias tape lining like to poke out a little (you can see that in the picture) but that wasn't a huge deal to me.

Scalloped Lace Shell in weathered sage $48.00 item 36952. This is a medium (my true size) I tried it on in a small and it fit but the medium flowed better and was more flattering. Really cute top, easy to wear. Staying on my wishlist for sure!

Horizon Stripe Pencil Skirt ($138.00 item 37986 ): This is my normal size 8 and it fits a little snug. If you go between two sizes in J Crew pencil skirts I would say go with the larger but I wouldn't say you need to actually size up. I liked this skirt better IRL then I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, it was on my wishlist already but in person the quality was better then I expected. The fabric is very thick and crisp (which is good when we are talking about a fitted white skirt) and the detailing was really lovely. I even liked the black waistband.

Here is the forever cardigan in a small (sized down since I wear my long cardigans open at all times)

Striped Drawstring Dress ($69.50 item 34960): ummmm, no thanks. This dress did nothing for me. I feel better about it now that I see it did nothing for the model either. I did like the length of this dress though. This is a medium. I tried on the small also and it fit more like it did on the model so you might want to size down on this one for that look.

Striped Button Back Tee ($39.50 item 37810). I sized down on this one and it was still away from the body (as designed). I really like this tee. It is cut a little boxy but it drapes well so I don't think it adds a bulking effect.

While I was there I ordered the much coveted No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Citron that is on the website but won't add into a shopping cart for some reason. Ladies, this skirt is in stock it appears to just be a glitch so you can order it over the phone .

What are your thoughts on J Crew's Spring line so far? Any must haves or already gottens??

Christmas, Court, Goals and a New Year

So sorry to go MIA on you all and make you worry! We had family in town and I was working a lot up to Christmas. Then my husband was in the ER on Christmas evening and was out of commission for several days. Luckily my work was great and got my shifts covered for me. He is on the mend now. Ended up being a staph infection that got into his ears...not fun. He had to go in every day for fluids and antibiotics via IV until he finally got into a specialist who realized it was staph and the antibiotics were all wrong. 2 days later and he was human again but our medicine cabinet is like a pharmacy now. My respect goes out to single moms, I could barely handle a week of feeling like one.

But it wasn't all bad crazies around here, beside the trip to the emergency room, Christmas was wonderful and we finally had our court date at the tail end of all this and it is official, Christopher ("CJ") is officially one of the family!

After 2 1/2 years, three social workers, an adoption worker, classes and a bundle of paperwork we were in chambers for 2 minutes with the judge and it was done! We are so happy to have all the red tape behind us and to just be a normal (but still crazy) family!

For those of you looking to adopt or who are considering fostering with the possibility of adopting, it was well worth it and wasn't too bad. It was just so long in our case because Christopher was actually placed with us once as a foster child and then was sent back home (much to the suprise of everyone). Then the mother kept asking us to come take him so it went back in forth for over four months until we were finally able to get CPS to put him back in the system so she couldn't keep abandoning him for weeks and then taking him back when she was having a good day.

We worked with a private foster agency (which I highly recommend) called Angels Foster Family Network and they were there every step of the way with all of our foster kids, not just CJ. Anyways, on to the adoption day outfit details for those who are curious....

Now for the New Years resolutions. We got the Wii Fit for Christmas so with that and some serious junk food restraint I am hoping to lose 10 pounds. I am actually less concerned with the pounds then I am with the tummy flab and muffin top....those just need to go. So far it is going well on the scale and the Super Hula Hoop is giving this out of shape momma a run for her money ;)

My toughest goal is to stop shopping for a while...my goal is nothing for a month and then reintroducing it with a strict budget. This is hard to do period but when you blog about fashion, read others fashion blogs AND work in retail it becomes nearly impossible. First move was I gave my notice at work. That didn't go so well because they counter offered with great schedule flexibility. So I am just cutting back for now and seeing how that goes. I LOVE working at the LOFT (and all my co workers) so it wasn't too hard to twist my arm not to quit. Second, I am going to be taking a blogging break for the rest of January. I may still pop in a few times but I will be reading less of your blog posts. You are all just too darn cute and make me want to go buy whatever you have. So basically, this is my "shopping detox", wish me luck!!

Today I had two returns to make at J Crew which means return shopping...whoo hoo! Perfect timing with the 25% off promo on all purchases over $150. Today was one of those days when I liked everything I grabbed and if my budget had allowed they may have all come home with me.

Bright Dahlia Wool Lolli Pants $118 (Size 8) These pants have been all the buzz since gracing the catalog. I hadn't thought too much about them since I usually gravitate to skirts but when I saw them in store I had to try them out. They are so comfortable and the color is stunning. What I didn't expect is that they are lightweight and unlined which works well for me (since it doesn't get too cold in San Diego). I found the fit TTS. I used to wear a 6 in their pants but since I have gained some weight the 8's are much better (I always have worn and 8 in the skirts though go figure). The 6's would have fit but they didn't have any left and I honestly think the 8 will work better anyways.

Silk Bloussana Tunic $98 (Size 6) When I first tried this on my initial thought was no way...the sleeves are a bit poofy at the shoulders but that lasted under a minute and I really fell for this top. It is soft and flowy and fits TTS.

This is a new dress that was in the store in denim and a soft pink. I don't see it online yet but the price was $128. Call me crazy but I like this one. I would never wear it bare legged like this but I can see it with leggings and riding boots.....once it goes on sale that is. $128 for a casual dress is too much for me. This is a size 8. I found it TTS if not a little small

Starry Night Cardigan $128 (size M)-this cardigan is gorgeous IRL. It is really light and although it is a jersey knit you would never know just by looking at it. This runs a little large. Small would have worked better but my store didn't have any. I tried on a XS but the arms were too tight.

Lace Rows Tank on sale for $69.99 (Size 8). This runs TTS, I usually wear a 6 in these tops but they only had an 8 left. I like this top a lot better then the Lace Love Tank I returned. I didn't find it too boxy but is is a looser fit through the waist

Drapey Sequin Tee $79.50 (Size Small). I really loved this tee. It sold out online but there were plenty in the store in this colorway. The fit is great and I was able to size down easily. One thing though....it is itchy. In fact the lady in line in front of me was returning hers for that exact reason.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Between my parents being in town and gearing up for the holiday crowds at work things have been even crazier then normal (I wasn't sure that was even possible). Now it is over and I can breathe a sigh of relief until tomorrow when it is time to start finalizing Christmas planning ;)

Here is what I wore on Thanksgiving (excuse the super duper pale legs). The Sunnie Pencil Skirt is sold out online but it didn't hit stores until recently so it shouldn't be too hard to find (hopefully).

I managed to take some OOTD photos last week (just didn't find time to post them). I am trying to get ahead this year for Christmas....so far so good but everytime I think I am in good shape I think of other things. First up...the foiled printed cardigan which I totally agree is more of a taupe then a gray. Online it is sold out but there are plenty in our store so I know you can find one. My store is 1583 in Escondido, California just in case ;). This scarf would also look great with it but my Polyvore clipper is on the fritz so I couldn't use it in the sets.

Today was an immunization day. I really hate when they get old enough during their shots to give you the "how could you let them do this to me" look. So I treated them all to Starbucks chocolate milks and tonight we are having our family date. Chase is making Pizzas and we are going to watch Toy Story 3 while munching on popcorn with M & M's (the best combo ever). Here is what I wore, yikes...check out the roots! This is one of my favorite "go to" skirts, I love the print and color but the fabric allows it to be casual. If you come across one on eBay....grab it!:

Okay, so I am cheating a little bit by using a picture from this post but I hadn't actually worn this outfit yet and it seemed perfect for Halloween. The only difference was that I had my hair pulled back (and I have lost the summer tan) and I was too tired after church and work (I very RARELY work Sundays) to snap a picture so I am recycling.

I figured we'd be slow on Halloween but it was crazy busy! I love days when a lot of customers want to be styled and have their outfits put together and Sunday was definitely one of those days.....loved it!

And today I received my "let's kiss and make up" gift from J Crew (although I could never stay mad at them) that I talked about here.

I had decided to hold on to it for awhile and save it for an in store visit. That lasted a few hours before I took advantage of the extra 25 promo (FALLSALE) and ordered these:

Chase just had to have the tee since it said "defeat is impossible" and he seems to think he is the next Hulk Hogan. Did you get anything during the promo? I guess I must be in he halloween spirit because it appears I am wearing a lot of pumpkiny colors this week! I finally caved and bought myself a pair of tortoise Juliets off of eBay. I usually like to wait for better deals on my J Crew shoes (like under $40) but I decided that I had wanted a pair of these long enough and the price was what i would have paid for in the store so after a year of trying I decided it was time.

Yesterday we signed the adoption papers....yay!!! Now all we do is wait for the court date to make it all official. But as of yesterday he is no longer considered a foster placement, he is now an adoptive placement. Baby steps ;)

So, I promise you I have not been running around naked every day. It has been a little crazy here and I have not been able to remember to take any OOTD pics plus my computer doesn't like me anymore (but that's another story). Here is what I am wearing today (so far). I am not sure about the boots. Two Fridays ago when J Crew had the extra 30 promo going on I finally grabbed the merino silvana cardigan in sweet almond that I tried on here. By the next Friday it still hadn't shipped so I called the customer service line. It appears that all orders placed that day were held up. To make up for it they were shipping it overnight and refunding all the shipping costs and I would have it Monday or at the very latestTuesday. Woohoo. Then Monday came and there was still no status update and no cardigan. They actually left me a message for me to call them but when I did, no one was sure why. So they shipped the cardigan that day and sent me a gift card for $25. Bravo J Crew for proactivly fixing everything without me having to get upset!

I know that quite a few of you have the spotted cheetah pencil skirt from the LOFT which is adorable yet almost impossible to match. Good news for you, the new sienna color that LOFT has just released is a perfect match for the spots. So far there are four tops to choose from in this color. The Shoulder Ruffle Sweater that I am wearing, the Scoop Neck Sweater, the Drape Neck Tank and the Ruched Side V-Neck Sweater. My only sidenote to this is that the Drape Neck Tank color in our store looks nothing like the Sienna (it is more of a muted redwood) so I am going to double check tonight to see if it is an in store color or if the sienna coloring in this top is off.

I am a firm believer that things don't have to match they just need to "go" but I must admit, sometimes it is nice to find a match. For more styling ideas, see this post

I fell in love with the Terra Paisley Shift Dress as soon as it I saw it last year. Unfortunatly, I just couldn't justify the $225 price tag for a silk/wool dress that I wouldn't be able to wear very often. Even when it was reduced, it was still out of my budget. So, I let it pass but thought of it often....sigh.

Then last month, I came across one on eBay and won it for guess what........$40.99, brand new with tags!! Here is a quick picture of it styled very, very basic. I found that it fits TTS. As other bloggers have mentioned, it is shorter then the website picture. Fortunately it had a substantial hem that I was able to let out and rehem (you can still see the old hem line, I need to iron it out better). And viola, it is now to my knees and church appropriate!

I love a great eBay deal, especially with all those sellers that inflate the prices so ridiculously high!! What was your best eBay deal???

Nuetral Dog Days

Yesterday felt like Fall here which was a really nice treat...I even wore a scarf! This was my first time wearing my matchstick cords, I must say that they passed slim/skinny leg test. The waist only loosened a little so I didn't have the problem where the pants stay tight on my legs but then get loose at my waist so I have to keep pulling them up....anybody else ever have that problem? I think if (more likely when) I get another pair, I will go with a tall (I am 5'9").

Straight from behind the scenes.....well, behind the counter to be precise. Out Holiday Preview Lookbooks came in this past week so I snapped a few pictures of my favorites to share. I love the styling they have done in these. It seems like they are finally adding a little more sophistication back into their styles. Notice the amazing velvet jacket (very similar to this one but I like the LOFT cut better), the lace skirt, the toned down fur accents (versus the current fur vests) and the rich colors. Oh, and lets not forget those shoes! You should be able to look at the entire book at your LOFT store (just ask) but for now...enjoy!

Thanks for all your input on our family photo outfits....I really appreciate it!

Yesterday was Professional Growth Day so no school for us...whoo hoo! That meant we all got to go pick up Nana from the airport. I decided to break out the Bici Tee that I *heart* big time! See it on AudreyBella and AppGal.

It is about time for our annual family photos. Every year I get a little more obsessive about planning our outfits but this year I have a great excuse....it is the first time we can have Christopher in them....yay!! So now I have all of their outfits planned out but after today's excursion I have a new contender for my outfit. So what do you guys think....buffalo check that will match Jonas's button up (his is black and white too) and coordinate with Coopers sweater colors or Sunshine Peonies to be feminine with the yellow like in Jonas' undershirt and stripes like Cooper and Chase are wearing....decisions. decisions.

Shopping to stay cool....literally

If you hadn't heard, we are having a massive heat wave here in Southern California and just as it was about to start...our AC broke down and the repairman will not here until tomorrow....ugghhh. So no OOTD for the last few days (well, I guess there is kind of one in this post) and I have not had the urge to wear any make-up that I would just sweat off so you are getting dressing room pics with a naked face and messy hair.

To avoid the baking in the oven, formerly know as our house, we kept busy.....well...er...shopping. Some were valid errands and some where just for fun. This mickey card is trouble.

First up, the moss tweed pencil skirt and the selvedge chambray shirt: the moss tweed has been on my wishlist for a while so I finally decided to try it on in store. This is a six as they were out of my regular size (8). The colors are beautiful in this skirt but the loose structure of the tweed plus the smaller size did nothing to disguise my pot belly and I wish they had kept the longer length for this one. I almost got it anyways but changed my mind. I may still order online in an 8. See it on AppGal here And the chambray shirt...why do you hate me so? I love this top yet it has no love for me. As many times as I try it on (here and the outlet version) it just refuses to wow me "on". As overpriced as it is....I guess I should be grateful :)

So many pretty colors in these but my size was sold out in almost all of them. These are the aluminum in a 29R and the fit is tight but since they relax, these should be perfect. This is the same size I wear in the matchstick jeans. The cardigan...yeah....no thanks. Not so hot on me, I look like a sloppy mess. I bet if it is styled better it would be cuter, also I may try it again sized down.

I had actually gone to the store to see about finally pulling the trigger on the Brompton Hobo that someone had returned, I figured with the 20% off I could splurg (see, here is my lazy OOTD). I love the color and leather they use on this bag but it was pretty bulky for me. After seeing the Rhodie Satchel IRL, I think I may pass (notice the word MAY).

And lastly, I found a little treasure. My store had sold out of the bronzed ochre double serge pencil skirt really fast. I held out on it originally because I thought it might be too similar to the one I already have in bronzed twig. However the tones and fit are different so when I saw an online return in a size 6, I had to give it a try. See it on AppGal here , Chloe here, and Andrea here. I love it paired with the buffalo check boy shirt. This is a size 8 and I ended up with a 6 which is my normal size in tops.

Well that was all I got to...you can see that the natives were restless in the background. My mom comes in to town tomorrow so I am planning on actually getting dressed! Watch for an IRL pic of Bici tee soon ;)

Guess what ladies?? I am going to have another Blog Sale this Friday starting at 7 am (PST). I just have too many things I never wear so I have to let some things I love go.

During the last sale I ran into issues with shipping costs being more then I anticipated so here is how I am going to structure this sale to make it easier:

$7- 2nd & 3rd items
$5-everything else

example: if you purchase 6 items it
would be 10+7+7+5+5+5= $39

so (theoretically) you could get a top, three sweaters, a skirt and a dress for $39

Quick J Crew Dressing Room Pics

I snuck out to J Crew yesterday morning and grabbed a few quick pictures, most are sale items

The Merino Silvana cardigan-Bronzed Twig, Medium. I was so suprised when this cardigan was on sale so quickly....I loved it the first time I saw it in store but I guess a lot of shoppers, like me, were scared off by the price tag.

Here it is in a small in the sweet almond color. The sleeves were a little tight in this size but I liked the rest of the fit.

C'est Bon Tee-Sorry for the blurry picture. Switching to the iPhone is easier but I need to work on it some more obviously ;) This is an in store only tee (at least so far). See it on Pamela and ShopwithM

Bici Tee-Size medium (TS). I had been eyeing this tee online but had two nagging concerns. The pink color being limiting and the beads on the spokes being so low that it may be hard to tuck in if I want to. In person, it won me over instantly and came home with me.

Cotton-Wool Ruffle Sweater-this is a size small, it runs really big. The small still felt stretched out and that was already a size down. I did love the fit of the sweater but the not the sleeves. A definite maybe.

Cascading Sequin Cardigan-Size Small. This is a really cute way to do sequins without being overwhelming. If I didn't already have the island paisley cardi, I would have brought this one home for sure.

First a quick shout out to my 7 year-old boo---Happy Birthday Chase (p.s. I never really call him "boo", he would hate that)

Just a quick Saturday post before I sneak away with my J Crew 25% off coupon from Mickey. I was shocked to get one of these since I don't have a J Crew card but hey, I am far from complaining! And the fact that I can use it over and over through October 11th.......could be trouble!

Here is me at work last night, these are both older LOFT pieces that I had forgotten about. The dress has great detailing around the collar and always draws lots of compliments.

Speaking of LOFT, did you see the new sale??? It's got some great potential.....3 items for 40% sounds good to me ;)

Yesterday I was able to wear my new Cowl Neck Sweater Dress to work. Since the temperatures keep going up here at least I have work to wear my fall clothing too!

I am one of those people who always gets hot and luckily so is my manager. Unfortunately for me last night she wasn't there to keep the store nice and cold so I ended up taking off a layer and I snapped a quick pic after we closed up!

Tomorrow Chase officially turns SEVEN. Where does time go???? I am back on a tight spending budget (which is where I always should be) but I think I may have to pick up the bici tee soon I was hoping for an in store promo....if you see one let me know!

Styling the LOFT Cowl Neck Dress in Nut

I really love the Cowl Neck Sweater Dress on- it is very flattering, especially for a sweater dress. Because of the higher waist it accentuates the smaller upper waist and doesn't grab around your tummy which is much appreciated by me! I don't think the fit is very clearly reflected on the website on the rail thin models with too big of sizes. There is a ribbed waistline right under where your bra lies and it doesn't look so droopy. It does not need a belt since it does have the ribbing but it is always fun to add one for a more put together look.

I was excited when Sydney at PetiteGorgeous asked for some styling ideas for the nut color. I find most of my clients prefer this color over the grey but think that the brown may be too hard to style. On the LOFT website they have it styled with chocolate tights and shoes, I wanted to show a few ways to combine it with black and denim. I had this dress on hold but now I am going to buy it tonight. I remember it being TTS if not a little big. I was able to wear my TS (Medium) and a Small comfortably but I believe I went with the Medium for length. I'll let you know for sure tomorrow ;)

Yesterday we celebrated Chase's birthday early at the Water Park. It was a great time and everybody made it through without any tears or near drowning moments (this is always a big plus for me)!

I am starting to feel a little better but not enough to put much effort into today's church outfit. I love comfy pieces that speak for themselves so I don't have to deal with accessorizing. Those of you who have been reading my blog long enough know that about me ;) I have been wanting the J Crew vintage cord pencil skirt in honeyglaze for ages and I finally found one on eBay and no one bid against me----yay!!

I thought it might be a waste of time to go to the J'Crewlet the same day as the website premiered but they had been sweet enough to put the last blush tweed pencil skirt on hold for me in an 8 so I decided to pack up the gang and head down. Turns out, this was a good thing as some of the pricing was different.

This was the first J Crew pencil skirt that I didn't like. It was very thin and stretchy. It bulged where my shirt was tucked in even though the camp shirt is thin. It also flared back out at the bottom (although you can't tell in the picture). I left it behind even though the coloring was so pretty. I sized down to a 6 and the fit was better but still had all the same problems.

I like the mohair sweaters, especially this spicy olive color. It does itch a little (it is mohair after all) and I liked it better when I sized down. The campshirt was cute on and fit TTS

Velvet Eden Blazer. I sized down to a 4 in this one. Orig. $118, sale online $82.50, in store promo $59.99.

I had tried this on in the retail store and passed. The factory version is much softer, thinner and has less structure. For me this made the fit sooooo much better. I did size down, the 6 looked good but I preferred the 4.

Lastly, it isn't online but they still had the vintage cord pencil skirts in. I grabbed the plum and it was marked down to $39.97 plus a 30% off clearance promo so it totalled $27.98 whoo hoo!!!
