Tortoise & Pumpkins

I guess I must be in he halloween spirit because it appears I am wearing a lot of pumpkiny colors this week! I finally caved and bought myself a pair of tortoise Juliets off of eBay. I usually like to wait for better deals on my J Crew shoes (like under $40) but I decided that I had wanted a pair of these long enough and the price was what i would have paid for in the store so after a year of trying I decided it was time.

Yesterday we signed the adoption papers....yay!!! Now all we do is wait for the court date to make it all official. But as of yesterday he is no longer considered a foster placement, he is now an adoptive placement. Baby steps ;)

This picture did not capture how adorable this cropped sweater jacket is. I love it, it is an easy casual, easy going piece. It  is part of the next LOFT holiday roll out so it is not online or on the floors yet but it may be sitting in the backroom of your store. The style number is 254417 and the price point is $89.50 but you can get it with the current 30% off promo in your stores. Also, if you shop by October 31st you can purchase a $25 LOFT cares card that goes towards the breast cancer research foundation. In return you get a 20% off coupon for all purchase over $100 through Nov 15th (it is reusable and it gets you 25% off if you use your LOFT loves credit card). The promos and sales are combinable with thiscoupon pays for itself if you spend like $130. Sounds a little confusing but trust me, they can calculate it for you at the register and it can help save you bundles on a larger purchase.

Now I am off to try to squeeze in a trip to the Pumpkin Patch, a school Monster Mash carnival and dinner in before I go to work. I remember not so long ago when weekends were relaxing.....I miss those days :)

Checks and Tears...oops I mean Tiers

Happy Monday! The weather here has been wonderfully dreary so I have been taking full advantage! Here is what I wore to a casual dinner with the LOFT gals for a baby shower:

I actually ended up trading out my yellowish boyfriend sweater from the GAP for a more fitted one from J Crew. I didn't snap a picture but here is the Polyvore:
yesterdays OOTD

And here is what I am wearing today. The chiffon tiered tank is always a great camoflauge on bloated days and the length is great for leggings and skinny jeans (and cords here). Today I went grocery shopping and baked so comfort was key. These cords definitely fit the bill.

Have any of you caved on the extra 30 promo at J Crew yet??? I was good and just picked up the merino silvana cardigan I tried on here

No title today...so there!

Hope you all had great weekends! Saturday was a mad house here with my hubby gone but guess who he sat next to on the plane....Brody Jenner. He didn't ask him about LC but they had lots of "guy talk".

Here is what I wore in the morning for a meeting with the Temple President last week

And here is what I wore to Jonas' cross country meet....soooo not a spectator sport. If you watched last weeks episode of The Middle -you get it :)

I finally caved on J Crew's Factory Store online. I called my crewlet and they didn't have these and I had always been sad I had missed out on this tee the first time around. A gal was in my store last week with one on and I loved it so when it showed up online, I was a sucker and paid too much for a tee.

p.s. for all those of you who got some goodies at the blog sale, they are on their way ;)

Same Pose, Different OOTD's

I am going to have to find a different place to put my hands during picture taking after seeing these photos all together! Last night was Jonas' open house at the highschool...6 classrooms, 10 minutes per room, 5 minutes between. It felt like we were cattle. I actually laughed outloud once at the hoards of us parents running around campus. But, it was great to meet all of Jonas' teachers and this is what I wore:

And here is a shot taken by my six year old the other day in attempt to get an OOTD picture. Not a big success but it was sweet of him to try!

And here is an OOTD picture that I never posted way back when. In fact, I didn't end up even wearing the outfit that day but I thought I'd post it anyways?

I have avoided the online 20% off promo at J Crew (so far). In store it was going on last week and I picked up a Jackie in Marigold along with this pilar paisley cami from the first picture. I have made two great scores on eBay that I will share soon so I have no budget left for the sweater sale and there is nothing I have to have (although there are still plenty of really wants). have you bought anything at J Crew during the promo?

Say Cheese!

Okay Yogagirl...this smile is for you! This is what I wore to church on Sunday and it did suffer a casualty when Christopher pulled off part of the tank embellishment. Nothing a few stitches can't fix :)

And here is what I wore to work last night. Don't I look exhausted? Honestly, highschool is wearing me out. Between Jonas' seminary at 6am, then highschool, then cross country after highschool I feel like I have permanatly superglued my behind to the seat of my car (well, minivan).

A weekend of outfits

I can't believe that the kids are already going back to school this Wednesday. Do summer's keep getting shorter or is it just me? Here is what I wore to work Friday night, I love the autumn yellow with the nuetral pinks and browns.

I was too worn out for an OOTD pic after work Saturday morning so here is a Polyvore. My kind of outfit, comfy plus a lot of compliments.
Today, minus the neck tattoo

And lastly here is what I wore to church on Sunday morning. I think this may be the first time I have worn my ink-dot print dress although I have no idea why. It is such an easy dress to wear and I got it in store for a great sale price.

shhhh.....we're hiding

The weekend was crazy, cleaning and packing for our trip up to Northern California that we ended up cancelling the night before. So now we are on a "stay-cation" but no one really knows we are here. Pretty nice if I do say so! I am behind on blogging and taking OOTD photos but here are two quick ones!

Here is what I wore to church on Sunday, I just love this skirt!

Easy Breezy Coral Girl

I tempted the fates yesterday and went to Target  but guess what, I didn't even buy a nailpolish for myself.  However there are some J Crew sale items that are really testing my resolve.....

Speaking of which, I forgot to mention my crystal blossom drop earrings that were part of my J Crew order that arrived yedterday (on sale for $29.99). It's hard to see in the picture but for me they are perfect. Not too big, dangle just a little and they will go with almost everything.......just how I like 'em! Here is what I wore today and let me just say, I cleaned my microwave this morning and the mess behind me is from my teenager making lunch.....how does he do it??? And Cooper is becoming quite the fan of taking OOTD pics, I try to keep him out but those eyes get me every time, I am a sucker.

And here is the Polyvore which is totally accurate except for the hair which ended up in a lazy day bun!

Some J Crew sale reviews & ways to wear them

Here are some reviews on some of the newer sale items and some ways to wear them.

Oak Tweed Pencil Skirt ($59.99 on sale )-this reminds me of my parents couch when I was a toddler but I love it anyways! The skirt sold out quickly online once it was marked down but I am sure it will start showing up on eBay and popbacks soon. It fits true to size and is the new shorter 21" length. I have it on here with the papaya silk tiered cami and an older J Crew corsage cardigan (my hair is blocking the flowers). Cooper was dancing for the photo...
Here it is again with the Perfect Fit Tee Slim Scoopneck Tee ($12.99 on sale) and the maya cardigan (still can find on ebay) in Sweet Guava. I grabbed this tee in my TS and it fit, well, perfect.
And here it is again with the Sand Dune Jackie ($39.99 on sale) and the ivory chiffon tiered tank ($29.99 on sale) . I sized down on the tank and it fit perfectly. I love that there is some weight to this tank, unlike the tissue tanks, but this baby is long. Much longer then on the model (more pictures later).
Now we will move onto the ink blossom pencil skirt ($59.99 on sale) paired casually with the Perfect-fit slim scoopneck tee again. I found the skirt TTS and I really love the print. It is easy to wear casually and doesn't need a lot to stand out!
Excuse the fact that I look like a scary doll here. This is my attempt to dress up the skirt a little with the silk frances cami in orchid shadow (on sale for $69.50) and the San Remo Cardigan (older but you can still find it on eBay). I obviously have not pressed the cami yet but you get the idea. I would also switch out the shoes but this was just for playing dress up.
Again, here it is with the metallic Jaspe Sequined Slouchy Sweatshirt. Not so sure about this one but it may grow on me!
And here is what I wore yesterday. The sand dune jackie, the ivory chiffon tiered cami (see how long it is) , the pearl and silk wrapped necklace in natural (check your stores for this color, the urban grey is still online $19.99) and the vintage matchstick jeans  in the vintage dark distress wash (some sizes still left for $49.99).

Sand Dune & Coral Jackie's

Even though it is Final Sale now is a great time to stock up on some sale Jackies . Since my order arrived I thought I'd do a quick post on two of the colors.

SAND DUNE: I just love this color. It is not peachy or pastel, it is like a warm caramel camel that I can see going with everything.
CORAL: hmmmm.....how about neon coral. This baby is bright but I know I will end up wearing it alot once I get over the shock. When I first got the Papaya pencil skirt I had the same reaction and it is one of my favorites. This picture looks really toned down but I know that a lot of you have the silk tiered cami in Papaya and have a hard time with how bright that is. Look how it is mellowed by the coral. Also next to it is the neon belt for comparison.

Jackie, "Olive you".....plus I won!

My J Crew order is set to arrive today....can't wait! Feels like a slight reprieve from the shopping ban even though all these items were purchased in June.

Can I just say how much I love the color of the Burnished Olive Jackie ? The color is so vibrant IRL and goes with everything. Yesterday I paired it with the pale pink Tango Tank, khaki and my neon belt. I promised the kids we'd play baseball today (yes, I know I am  still a little overdressed) so I wore flats . I am so glad that I played softball for so many years growing up! It is an awesome, bonding thing that I can play catch and hit fly balls with them when Daddy is at work. I would hate if the only passion I passed down to them was for shoes (yes, they are all shoe fanatics). Problem is, they are all so good that we can only practice hitting at the fields or we lose all the balls over or fence in a matter of minutes.
After baseball it was Starbucks for me, icecream for them and a haircut for Chase and then at home movie night, I love summer! Here is the Polyvore for yesterdays outfit:

And for the second part of the title, looky, looky what I won from the amazingly wonderful, sweet and beautiful Kim over at Anthroholic. I actually had fallen in love with this dress and had emailed Shabby Apple's customer service about the measurements earlier this year before they ever got it in stock so imagine my suprise when I actually won it. It is like cheating on my shopping ban without actually cheating!:

Today plus the Long Merino Cardigan in Bronzed Twig

Crazy enough, I am already going into shopping withdrawals just thinking about the July Shopping Ban. Pathetic...I know! Tomorrow I will lay out my personal rules and feel free to share your ideas.
Here is what I wore today. I had planned to wear a pencil skirt but I have been feeling a little yucky and couldn't motivate myself beyond jeans.

Cami, Cardigan & Shoes-Banana Republic
Weekend Jeans-Old Navy

The UPS man came today with some J Crew and Banana Republic goodies that I will give you a review on tomorrow. I had received some questions on the long merino cardigan and the coloring of the bronzed twig. I fell in love with this cardigan in the catalog and had to order it. It is hard to capture the color right so I put it next to the Pecan Coralie Cami and the spicy olive jackie so you could get an idea of the tone. It is more bronzey brown then green but it definitely has a green hue to it. First impression....love. It has big comfy pockets and is very long in length. More info to come......

Same, but.....different!

Today I took the kids to meet my hubby for lunch so I thought I'd pull out my Neapolitan pencil skirt. I am so ready for the weekend to be here, got any good plans? Less then a week into summer vacay and you'd think the boys had been cooped up in a room for a month the way they are fighting. Hopefully it will pass or my sanity will be a thing of the past.

When I got home from lunch I was ECSTATIC to see that my favorite UPS man had been by with some J Crew goodies which I tried on immediatly and may be some of my fav J Crew purchases ever. Afterwards I had more errands but wanted to "caj" it up a little so in left the shirt untucked and put on some flats. Chase wanted to be in the picture and who can say no to this face????

You only get the day........

Yesterday was a run around in the day, make dinner and run back out at night kind of day. One of my friends was having her baby shower and what better way to get away with shoving  politely eating mass amounts a little bit of cheesecake then to hide your bloated belly under the tango tank? I have to admit, sitting next to her while she opened baby girl clothes made me a little sad. I love having four boys but I can't wait to have a little girl to dress up (don't gasp, she will most likely be a grand daughter).

I wish I took a picture of how I dressed up my daytime outfit for the event but my camera decided to hide. Luckily I found it this morning in the laundry room (a.k.a. my garage).  I wish it had at least had the common courtesy to do a few loads while it was stranded out there. Anyways, I am sooooo ready for the three day weekend....whoot....whoot.....anybody have any great plans?

Dreaming of an Abstact Lattice Pencil Skirt...........

I was finally able to find an abstract lattice pencil skirt on eBay and I won it...whoop whoop! While I am waiting for it to arrive, I have been dreaming of outfit combinations.....

There are some other GREAT ideas in this Polyvore Collection , can I wear this skirt everyday for a month...would that be strange ;o)  I have been making a few last employee purchases at Macy's. I finally grabbed the Nude Bandolino pumps but I did them as a pre-sale for the Friends & Family event so I don't get to bring them home until the 28th. I also snagged the B. Makosky bag shown for under $40 (from $188). It is a great nuetral color!

The Scoop and the Stash

So the Loft interview went well, I should hear back this week if I got it, if not...that's okay too (although I'd really enjoy working there)!  The group interview was unlike anything I'd done before. There were six of us and they would ask a question and we'd all have to go around and answer it. For me, this was just fine and kind of fun once you got used to it, like girlfriends talking. There were some neat ladies there so I am sure the final decisions will be tough. I did feel bad for the younger, shy-er (is that a word?) applicants. I would not have been comfortable in that environment when I was younger and they clearly felt awkward.

And ladies, guess what? I was the ONLY ONE wearing any article of Loft clothing. That suprised me some in fact, a few of them said they had never shopped there *gasp*!

I did do a little shopping this weeken although I had said I wouldn't. I had a hard time not going crazy with the 20% AND free shipping on all tees and knits. There were so many I wanted but I settled on two:

This top is on backorder but I didn't want to miss out on it!
I know the buzz has not been big on this tee but I LOVE the peachy color and look how cute it is on Katie Holmes

And while we are at the J Crew tees, I finally caved in and got the slub cotton embroidered flowers tee off eBay:
And I picked up a great suckered gingham top at Banana Republic that I'll show you tomorrow. Here is my OOTD from Saturday at work. I love this top and plan on wearing it how I would really like to (without the dark dress code) this week!
