One of those funk things....

I am sure that I am not the only woman out there that occassionally suffers from what I like to call "funkiness". That was where I was last week. I thought I escaped it this weekend but sure enough it was here again today. So that is why I was so rude to ask all of your opinions on a dress and then not even say thanks. You all had a lot of great points and advice. 90% of you will be glad to know the dress did go back and guess what, I still haven't broken my shopping ban!

This morning Cooper had his three-ish year-old  doctor appointment. Can you believe he is the average size of a five year, three month old? Between the Dr appt, a church meeting and football camp flats were necessary even though they were not my favorite choice for this outfit.

Suprisingly enough, here are some pics of the day that threw me in the funk. One of my friends from church called me last Monday night and begged me to to do a four hour shift at the beach the next day to hold the fire ring for a youth event. Of course I said yes but four boys at the beach by myself is not my idea of fun. I worry way too much and with two toddlers it is hard to keep an eagle eye on the other two when they are in the water so I get a little (okay a LOT) nuerotic. Throw in Chase (he's just 6) disappearing  for 10 minutes and bring on the funkalicious mental break down.

Word. I had my boys at the beach WITH my husband last week, and I couldn't relax the whole time. I can't imagine with four and no extra set of hands.

You look great, and I'm glad you are staying so strong with your shopping ban! Here's to a much less stressful week ahead!

Sometimes, it's not about how you feel, but how you look and you look very pretty..Some day all your boys will be in college and you'll wonder were the time went. Enjoy every moment. you're a good mom, Nancy

I experience that funk myself. It's not fun.

I understand the funk....but I think you still look great, I really like todays outfit.
I do not know how you do it, I have two boys and going to the beach for me is a walking panic attack!

I wore that same tee today with my abstract lattice skirt! The only difference is that my skirt is orange instead of khaki. LOL, what are the odds?

Thanks everyone!

Nicole-how funny is that?!

I have felt the same way for almost a week now.
When hubby asks what is wrong, I can't even explain, because truthfully...I don't even know!

A girl thing I guess.

Hello! Love your blog and your wardrobe!! I wanted to inquire about the fit of the J Crew pencil skirts. Do you find that you generally wear the same size in the pencil skirts that you do in J Crew pants? I'm trying to use a pair of Cafe Capris as a reference... not sure whether to size up on the skirts. Any advice?

I hope you feel better soon! At least you look great!

I knew (at least I hoped) I wasn't alone!

Real Working Mom of OC- I consistently wear my truest size in J Crew's pencil skirts. In their pants, I often size down one. I don't have the cafe capris but I do have the skimmer pants and I took those in a six while my pencil skirts are still an eight. That said, I do tend to wear my skirts looser then my pants. Hope that didn't make it too confusing....

Hi. Was doing a search & came across your blog. RE: Your outfit. You are on to a good thing here ... a few thoughts. More casual on top; whereas, the pencil skirt is more formal ... ??? consider shortening the skirt to just above the knee (no higher). Would accentuate your legs (that's a compliment). Also, add some kind of funky necklace. A straw tote bag would go great. Last, if you shortened the skirt, you could wear flip flops -- great casual day look that could take you into evening with dressier shoes.
