Crewlet Maya Cardigans

Okay this is a quick, quick post until I can do more later about my mad trip to the J Crew Outlet. They had four colors of the 100% cotton Maya's (retail version was Merino) and I snapped a quick picture with my phone.  The style number is 29128 and it was $59.50 minus 25%= $44.63. It seemed exactly like the retail version and the cotton is very nice and honestly, I couldn't tell the difference.

I'm so excited. I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it. Woot. Woot.

Oh wait, I'm in public here.

K. - so THANK YOU for the available color alert! I called an outlet near me and they SHIP - the charge was $8.50, I think? I grabbed the yellow - squeal.

I have this in two colors (I think the 2nd & 4th in your pic) from last year and love them! Good find :)

I totally called my outlet and put the last Yellow Small on hold to pick up today....I totally musy have missed it when I was in last week! So now I'll have the yellow and the purplish-color on the far right. SO happy you got your yellow Maya after all!

Another Crewlet score! I have the original version of this sweater from last year, so nice to see it's back and still popular. :)

I hurried to my crewlet to get the maya cardis (I love my sweet guava merino wool maya from last year) and sadly, I was very disappointed with the crewlet version. It didn't have as much ruching (only 2 gathers on crewlet version)as the real retail sweater, the V-neck didn't come down as low, and I found that the fit was not nearly as flattering as the real version (mainly because it had fewer gathers/ruching). So as much as I'd love to snag more of this style, I left without buying a single one.

To avoid disappointment, you may want to google the real version and see IRL pics on other bloggers then compare it with the crewlet version. You'll immediately see the difference.

I'd prefer to stalk ebay for the real one and snag it should it ever come up again. Just my 2 cents.

After months of checking ebay for the "amber" merino maya, I was so excited to see your post yesterday about the crewlet version. I called today and have some on hold until I can get there tomorrow. To be honest, living in TX, I would rather have the sweater in cotton than in merino wool anyway. Thanks for the heads up!

Francesca-those are some really good points, you have a much more detailed eye then I do! I didn't notice any of the things that you brought up so I pulled out my old Maya and the new version and you are right, less gathering and the v is lower on the original. However, since I didn't notice the difference immediately I still think it is a good replica. I will try to put up pictures of both cardigans on me to compare

Woah, Francesca. Sounded a little hard on a momma who had a tough day, and went out of her way to post for the rest of us.
