Some J Crew Fitting Room Reviews

So yesterday I headed to J Crew to spend a little Birthday money from my parents (funny how I still sound like I am a teenager). The gift of shopping is my favorite present and I was really good at only spending what I was given (pat on back) but as I left the SA says the dreaded (and equally beloved) words " Our new collection will be here next Wednesday"......now I have a whole new line to check out and drool over....how much self control can one girl have?

Printed Palmera Ruffle Cami (Size 6) and the Merino Larkspur Cardigan (Medium)

This picture doesn't really do it justice but I really liked this top ( I am pretty sure I am in the minority here) but I just didn't like the price tag. I also wish it was cotton instead of silk I will be on sale watch for this top though. I wasn't, however, impressed with the cardigan at all. I just didn't like the shape or lack there of. Maybe it is just the fact that it is too long for a crew neck cardigan, but whatever it was...it was a no go for me.

Cotton Papillon Blouse:

This top was in the sale section in my store but is still full price online. I have loved this top since I originally tried on here but this was a 4 and was snug on my shoulders and they didn't have any 6's left. I figured I'd go home and order it online but then I saw it was still full price...ugghh. Luckily I called CS and they honored the price for a one time exception (they post it on your profile) so it was like a birthday bonus!

Scalloped Petal Top (6)

I really loved the scalloped petal top, it is sold out online but there were plenty in our Fashion Valley store. Unfortunately but the cardigan had all the problems for me that Sumerilla mentioned here .

Chiffon forget-me-not Cardigan (Size Medium)

This cardigan is really beautiful even at it's high price tag. I just couldn't see it holding up in my life style (picture kids picking flowers off it) so I had to pass.

Silk-linen Ruffle Cardigan (Medium) and the Sunshine Peony Pencil Skirt:

I really loved this cardigan (this color may be in store only), it has a vintage charm to it IRL and I think it would look great belted. I have been drooling over the sunshine peony pencil skirt since MMM told me she had gotten it over the Neopolitan. I copied her and did the same.This is a size 8 and it is a nice lightweight and casual material. I can't wait to pair it with my ocean breeze jackie.

Ruffled Spring Celosia Cardigan (Small), Dahlia Bead Tee (Medium) and Ankle Stretch Toothpick Jean (Sz 29):

I really liked all three of these items. I had passed on the Celosia cardigan before but when the Spring colors came out, this one needed to be mine! I did size down on this one though. The tee fit TTS and was very cute and the jeans fit like a glove, a latex one and were really cute. I liked the ankle length, it goes well with both heels and flats. But since I had a 40% off coupon for Banana Republic, I decided to pick up jeans there instead.

Dotted Jaquard Pencil Skirt (Size 8)

This skirt is so stunning if it weren't for the fabric it would have been mine. However I could not justify the price for the amount of times (or lack of) that I would be able to wear it.

Belted Beach Tunic (Medium):

The kids had worn me out in the dressing room by the time I tried this on so I never got to the belting part but it was very comfortable and flattering.

Fashion over lunch, what more could a girl want?

Today was the day of our fashion luncheon. As promised, here are the pictures of my "three way" walls inspired by A Bigger Closet's "Wear it 3 Ways" series where she takes one article of clothing and styles it three different ways. I will try to post some more fun pictures of the event if I can get my hands on them!

So, I had originally passed on the Lester Hat Shop tee. I liked it straight away but had overspent that day but after seeing so many JCA's wearing it I knew I would regret letting it go. After hearing about all the goodies szmom scored on her comment here, I knew I had to dash over to J Crew to see what may be waiting for me. I too was able to pick up the Lester Tee at $10 off and the Palmera Ruffle Cami in Whisper Pink for $49.99. Every time I look at my Palmera cami I think about Gigi's comment about a paper shredder but I love it anyways! Here is how I wore the tee this weekend to work.

Well hey there blogging friends, we have now survived Monday and are trudging through the week! Our schools start next Wednesday so this week is full of registration, orientations and more back to school shopping in the daytime followed by football, work, and "official" cross country in the evenings. I am going to have to start weekly spreadsheets to keep everything organized. Thankfully the toddlers schedule is simple (minus the potty training going on AGAIN). I already miss the simplicity of summer vacation and it isn't quite over yet. Here is what I wore yesterday:

Hits & Misses

First off, I must just get this off my chest. My 5'9" size 12 shoe wearing baby is graduating from 8th grade tomorrow....when did that happen? I don't know when I got old enough to have a child who is my height and can share shoes with my hubby. Graduation is a big deal out here, I have heard that most other places it is no biggyat all but it is out here and I had a great time with him picking out each detail of his outfit. I have also been teasing him that I am wearing a matching outfit so we can be alike, for some reason he seems to be terrified of the idea (tee....hee...).

Okay now to my regular stuff. Here is what I wore to work Friday night. I have found that I run around 10 times more at the Loft then I did at Macy's and add that to the fact that are floors are hardwood and my work shoe options are getting more and more limited!

Here is what I wore to work the next morning, not my favorite but I was tired . My hubby took the photo and just like a man, he does not to seem to realize that shoes are part of the outfit. I am really liking the Loft's pencil skirts, they are super flattering for those of us with curves. I just wish they'd come out with some more colors.

And here is what I wore to church on Sunday. I grabbed the dress off eBay for about $20. I have tried to stay away from impulse buys on eBay but I broke my rule here and luckily it worked out. I really like the coral print.

Gilded Jaquard Pencil Skirt

This post is for Hollylovescrew who requested some styling ideas for the gilded jaquard pencil skirt. This was a great challenge for me because I purchased this skirt a while back in store for just $39.99 and have yet to wear it. For me, this is the first J Crew pencil skirt I have found that just does not fit me right which may be due to the fabric. It pulls across my hips and tummy so I don't plan on wearing it tucked in unless I lose some lb's.

With Papaya: excuse all the wrinkles. My Joelle blouse was in my drycleaning bag. I loved the sheen of these two pieces together and if you have the blouse you know how light it is, so comfy.

Olive and Navy: I paired it here with the scalloped petal top and the jackie in burnished olive

Olive and Navy reversed: And here it is again with the spicy olive victoria tissue tank and a denim blazer

Lastly, this is the look I will probably wear the most. I have on the tissue tuxedo tank and the san remo cardigan but I think it would also look great with the breeze jackie or the spring celosia cardigan too!

Gilded Jacquard pencil skirt

J Crew, i can always count on you....Part 2

Here is part two of my J. Crew trip. I tried on a few other pieces that I didn't get a photo of. It is so quiet in the dressing room and I feel like a hoodlum taking pictures in the dressing room and I get nervous every time the camera beeps. I am a goob.

Silk Tiered Cami in Bright Papaya

I had always liked this cami and how this version kept all the tiers symmetrical and straight across. However, I didn't $88 like it. But guess what ladies, in store this cami was in the sale section in this color, deep aubergine and the toffee for just $19.99. Online it still shows as the $88.Here it is in a great black and white print (paired with the Maya cardigan) that I really liked but this was only marked down to $49.99. I stuck with the bright melon.

Ruffled Collier Top

I had low expectations for this shirt but I ended up being pleasantly suprised. The side zipper didn't bother me at all, it flowed so well I didn't notice it until I specifically looked for it. This is in a size 6 and the fit is just right, the fabric is soft which kept it from being as boxy as some of the other camis. I passed on it for this trip but I will be keeping an eye out for it to go on sale, especially in the wild blackberry colorway!

Here it is with the Ruffled Celosia Cardigan in Bright melon. I expected to love this cardigan, I knew for sure I would take it home but it didn't ended up "wowing me" and the fit seemed a little big when it was buttoned up. This is a medium but I think a small would have worked better.

Most of the new arrivals hadn't made it to our store yet but I can't wait until they do!
